The Future of Cohesion Policy

The Committee of Regions together with other EU institutions, experts and stakeholders has established a platform for thematic discussion concerning cohesion policy after 2020. In December 2014, Metis was commissioned to stimulate and prepare the content in regards to the key points of the debate, which consist of three seminars and a final conference by the expert groups in early 2016. Future policy options will also be discussed. This includes (1) trends and challenges, (2) effectiveness and efficiency, (3) growth and cohesion models as well as (4) new ideas and alternatives. The results will be prepared in light of existing studies, supplemented by structured interviews and a questionnaire from local and regional authorities. This will be prepared by Metis in the form of a second report.
